The purpose of this study was to determine if the implementation of math journals, along with math talks, would increase student achievement in solving word problems.
About
This action research project focused around nineteen fifth grade students to enhance and extend number sense and problem solving capabilities. Even though my students were at varying academic levels, the strategies seemed to benefit all students while best suiting seven individuals. These specific students required more direct instruction; thus, I provided additional conferencing, which resulted in greater data collection and analysis centered around them.
